Recumbent bicycles are bicycles where the rider is in a reclined position, generally sitting in a seat the resembles a lawn chair. The cyclists feet are in front of the body instead of below. This position generally requires the bicycle tires to be smaller than conventional road bicycles, yet the tires still have the requirement of light weight and high pressure to provide optimal performance. Since the recumbent bicycle market is relatively small compared to conventional bicycles, the availability of tires that meet the needs of recumbents has been limited, particularly since there is no standardization of sizes. BicycleTires has tried to find as many different tires as possible to give you a great selection. We currently have approximately 30 different tires to choose from. When picking recumbent tires, pay particular attention to the ISO (metric) size of the tire you need since there are often several different sizes of tire that have the same english size. For example, 20inch tires are available in ISO406 and ISO451 and both are commonly used on recumbent bicycles. These tire sizes are not compatible. If you have trouble figuring out the size, please don't hesitate to contact us. Use our Tire Finder to find just the tire you need. Below are some of our more popular products. | |
