Standard weight tubes provide a balance between durability and light weight. While not the lightest tubes we sell, standard weight tubes are durable enough for any conditions, but not so thick they diminish ride quality.
Standard weight tubes are made of butyl rubber, which is easily patched using a standard patch kit. These tubes can be patched many times and have a very long lifespan.
These tubes use either presta or schrader valves. Presta valves are thinner than schrader and common on newer road and mountain bikes. Presta valve length is measured in millimeters, longer valves are designed for "deep dish" aerodynamic rims. Schrader valves are common on commuter and department store bikes, they are the same valve as on a standard American car tire.
