Commuter/City tires are designed to ride comfortably and reliably. These tires are available for either 700c(road) or 26"(MTB) wheel sizes, which are not interchangeable. Noticeably wider than standard road tires, commuter tires generally measure 700x28-47 or 26x1-2.125". Wider tires provide a more comfortable ride and better grip on uneven or wet roads. Commuter tires are also popular on touring bikes.

All commuter tires are fairly resistant to flats, some simply rely on thick rubber treads, others utilize carbon or kevlar layers similar to those used in training weight road tires.

Commuter tires predominantly use wire beads to engage with the wheel. Folding bead commuter tires are available, but tend to be much more expensive than their wire bead counterparts. Wire beads do add a bit of weight to the tire, but commuter tires are fairly heavy (500-900g each). Folding commuter tires are generally used by touring riders who need to pack a sturdy spare tire.

good for about 9 Months.
By Mark  from Boston, MA  - Casual Cyclist

These tires were on my new Marin Alp Fairfax. After about 9 months the sidewalls cracked and started to fade. One week in Saratoga NY, I experienced 7 flats in five days. So,...No puncture protection there. wet Traction is ok. I have now replaced them with some Conti's Gatorskins and I'm happier with those and I didn't sacrifice too much weight. At best this is an average tire if you need a replacement. My opinion,... get something else.
