According to Dumonde, this lube forms a long term coating on all chain surfaces, and while you are riding creates a low friction plating which won't wash off. It is environmentally friendly and very durable.
For best results start with a clean, dry chain and drive parts, then the first application primes the surface for the "plating". When cleaning the chain use soap and water then reapply and the lube plating will remain. Strong solvents or degreasers will remove the plastic coating basically ready for starting over.
