For best results, choose a vulcanizing patch kit such as the Park Tool VP-1 Vulcanizing Patch Kit or Genuine Innovations Small Patch Kit. You'll also want a set of tire levers to help get the tire on and off the rim. The Kool Stop Tire Levers are a good choice.
Another great product to carry with you is the Park Tool TB-2 Emergency Tire Boot. This product includes three patches that can be used to patch a larger hole in a tire long enough to finish your ride.
