Road Bike Tires
The category of 'road bike tires' refers to tires that use a rim size of 700c, are fairly narrow and used on racing-style road bikes. Of course, there are exceptions. Older department store style 10-speeds used the rim size referred to as 27". Smaller sized road bikes for women and children sometimes use the size 650c. 700c is the most common tire size used on modern road bikes. There is a huge range of tires available for 700c wheels.
We divide our road bike tires into two main categories Race Tires and general Road Bike tires which range from inexpensive tires for occasional riders to durable training tires.
The standard road bike tire is 700cx23mm. Some riders prefer narrower tires (700x19-20) for a quicker feel. Wider tires (700x25-28) are useful to larger riders, those who ride in wet conditions, on gravel or uneven roads or any rider looking for a little more stability and comfort.
We stock both clincher and tubular tires. Clincher tires are the standard tire that has a tube inside, they then 'hook' into a clincher rim. The vast majority of recreational riders use only clincher tires. Tubular tires are favored by racers. They consist of a tire with a tube sewn inside which is then glued to a tubular-specific rim.
Here at BicycleTires we carry a large range of tires from manufacturers such as Michelin, Continental, Vittoria and many more. For additional assistance selecting road bike tires, contact us at (800)479-9350 or sales@bicycletires.com.
